Welcome to Cooinbil Station, a highly regarded pastoral operation located in the heart of the Riverina, spanning approximately 220,000 acres (89,000 hectares) of productive country with surrounding towns of Coleambally, Deniliquin, Conargo and within a hour is Griffith and 2hrs from Wagga.
We are seeking an Assistant Station Manager to work closely with the Station Manager and play a key role in the ongoing success and future direction of the business.
About Cooinbil Station
Cooinbil is a large-scale sheep breeding enterprise, running up to 100,000 DSE, supported by cattle agistment. The station features extensive infrastructure including well-developed fencing and laneways, reliable water systems, a historic woolshed and access to permanent waterways. The operation is designed for efficiency, sustainability and long-term performance.
Cooinbil forms part of one of Australia’s largest pastoral operators, managing over 4.4 million hectares across 28 businesses. Established in 2007, the company operates diverse sheep, cattle and cropping enterprises and is recognised for its professionalism, scale and long-term commitment to sustainable agriculture.
The Role
Reporting to the Station Manager, this role is a key part of the station leadership team. You will help deliver annual and five-year plans across production, people, safety, budgets, capital works and environmental outcomes. The position is hands-on and operational, covering livestock management, mustering, feeding programs, marketing and logistics, contractor coordination and day-to-day decision-making. A strong safety focus and flexibility around seasonal work demands are essential.
About You
- A minimum of five years’ experience in large-scale livestock operations, including three years in an overseer or similar management role
- Proven leadership capability with the ability to build trust, provide clear direction and foster a positive team culture
- Strong skills in livestock, water systems and working dogs
- Sound judgement, commercial awareness and strong organisational skills
- Confidence using systems such as AgriWeb and Microsoft Excel, or the willingness to develop these skills quickly
- Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and a practical, hands-on mindset
