Electrician – Automatic Gates

There’s only so long you can handle being stuck in someone’s front yard, dodging ankle-biting toy poodles while trying to install a gate, worse still if you’re fixing light switches and changing smoke alarm batteries for Margaret.

The business growth has been phenomenal, and now is your chance to get in early.

The Olympics are just around the corner, and this business is gearing up for national expansion with its own custom gates and installers.

You’ll be working with the big players in the commercial space across SE Queensland; think airports, government infrastructure, and high-end residential projects (Brisbane City Council, GC City Council, Mining). Yes, there’s a small component of residential work, but primarily, you’ll be working with the big dogs.

Whether you’ve been in the automatic gate game for a while, worked on residential projects, or had other commercial gigs, what you really need here is mechanical aptitude and a solid work ethic.

This role is available due to an internal promotion (not because someone cracked it and left), so you’ll be reporting to someone who’s been in your boots and actually gets it. 

Your new supervisor is a top guy. Considerate, great with clients, actually thinks before he speaks (rare, we know), and maybe even too nice for his own good.

You’ll be the envy of your mates, scooting around the city in a fully kitted-out Transit Van or Hiace that’s decked to the nines. They’ll get sick of you banging on about how good your job is “Mate, will you stop talking about your van?”
All jobs are dispatched electronically, no more carting around paperwork. 

Finish the job, perch up in the van, bang out a voice note, and voilà, you’re done and onto the next one.

Monday to Friday with an on-call rotation (every five weeks), where you pocket an extra $200 just for being available. If you get called out, it’s a minimum of four hours of double time per call-out. Cha-ching!

The hourly rate will be around $50–$55 per hour plus Super with an RDO system in place.

They kicked off four years ago and have skyrocketed to become one of the fastest-growing gate companies in SE QLD.

A major point of difference? They manufacture their own custom gates in-house, so they keep control of quality.

The owner is an absolute legend. Loves mentoring people and taking them on the journey. 

He’s a huge advocate for change in the industry, speaks at industry events, and is one of the masterminds behind regulating the trade, so if you’re eager to learn, he’s more than happy to take you under his wing.

First and foremost, I’m a devoted father and husband, fully embracing the responsibilities that come with those roles. My family’s well-being is my main concern; everything else is secondary. It’s an absolute madhouse at times, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A rehabilitated people-pleaser who no longer feels the need to masquerade as someone I’m not.

As I’ve grown older, wiser, and balder, I have found myself speaking less, listening more, and not worrying about what others think of me.

Life is short.

Business doesn’t have to be serious and full of pretenders, so I’ve taken off the mask and am simply being me: rough around the edges, quirky, and a bit of a strange cat.

Business has always fascinated me, with its ups and downs, daily lessons, and the inevitable growth that accompanies them. Along the way, I’ve accumulated my fair share of battle scars, both figuratively and maybe a few clumsy mishaps here and there. But hey, it’s all part of the journey, and I’ve learned valuable lessons from each experience.

Recruitment holds a special place in my heart because I have personally experienced the impact that an exceptional team can have on businesses. Hence, I recognize the immense importance of the industry.
