This seat hasn’t been vacant in over twenty years – and for good reason.
It isn’t just a job.
It’s a legacy.
At De Bortoli Wines, they’ve been celebrating three generations and close to 100 years of family winemaking.
They’ve built something special in the heart of the Riverina—and we’re looking for someone just as special to carry that legacy forward.
This role has remained in steady hands for over two decades, and it’s the backbone of how they operate.
If you want to be a part of something meaningful, where your work truly matters, this is the place.
The salary is well aligned with the size of the role and trust us when we say, it’s not just about the dollars here.
It’s about a lifestyle.
The region sells itself.
With legendary restaurants, boutiques and culture on your doorstep, quality local schools and great access to healthcare, Griffith is a vibrant community filled with growing families and young professionals.
Being an Operations Manager at a winery like De Bortoli’s isn’t just about overseeing the output of a finished product.
You’re not just helping produce wine. You’re shaping an experience, heritage, and heart.
We’re on the hunt for a grounded, forward-thinking, and emotionally intelligent leader to take on one of the most critical roles in the business.
Based at their Bibul site on the outskirts of Griffith NSW, you’ll be overseeing the day-to-day operations across planning, packaging & production, quality assurance, warehousing and distribution, engineering and customer service.
You’ll work closely with a team of around 220 people on site and collaborate with experienced managers across autonomous departments.
Everyone knows their craft.
They just need the right leader to bring it all together.
You’ll have a hand in everything—from cost control and CapEx/OpEx, planning to compliance, staff resourcing, and customer service coordination.
Your role?
Make sure the right things are in the right place, at the right time, made in the right way and delivered to the right people.
You’re process-driven without being rigid.
However, you’re curious, intuitive, and always looking for a better way.
It’s a delicate balance of strategy, compliance, efficiency, and care.
You know your way around capital planning and development, cash flow, and cost control but more importantly, you know how to lead people with a steady hand and compassion.
De Bortoli Wines is a family business through and through.
They lead with kindness, integrity, openness, flexibility a strong sense of community and they are now ready for someone who aligns with their values to be able to take the reins in the role.
You’ve led change, held people accountable, and supported teams through both high spirits and hard moments.
But at your core, you just genuinely care – about the business, the people, and the wine.
You’ll be working as part of the senior leadership team that is capable, and highly experienced in managing a unique family owned and operated business.
And your team of direct reports, well they don’t need micromanaging.
Quite the opposite, they need someone who can set the direction, provide support, and keep communication open.
You’re the thread that weaves all the moving parts together.
You’ll be coming from a background in manufacturing, ideally from the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry.
Maybe you hold qualifications in Finance, Business, or Engineering, or maybe you have developed your extensive experience working within, and across, numerous manufacturing & production based environments.
What we need is someone who is highly capable and brings the finesse of running an operation of this size.
